Ocooch Mountain Music started about five years ago, but that was simply a way to formalize and consolidate all the ideas and passions that Pete Engen and I have been working on for the past 25 years. In June, we started a ’zine as a way to pull together the host of interesting people we’ve gotten to know through art and music.

SEVEN has been a curating space for some of these same ideas, so we decided to merge our artistic interests and see where we can go. The following pages represent a current that is running through us, the people who inspire us, and the music and writers that have wowed us. Enjoy!

Occoch Mountain Music Cover Graphic: Landon Sheely is a local La Crosse artist and designer. The cover graphic was part of his most recent show that premiered at Volume One Gallery in Eau Claire. Part of that show and prints are currently at The Root Note in La Crosse. He also contributed the companion print that is part of Haley McCallum’s story in this issue, called “Dead Boyfriends.”
