Trampled by Turtles frontman Dave Simonett will be producing Them Coulee Boys’ third album, to be recorded at the legendary Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, the end of February. They will join an amazing list of others who have laid down foundational recordings at the fabled studio, including Nirvana, The Jayhawks, Soul Asylum, Son Volt, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, and Simonett’s bands Trampled By Turtles and Dead Man Winter.

Them Coulee Boys was formed in the Trempealeau/Blair, Wisconsin, area and now call Eau Claire home. The band’s blend of bluegrass and Americana that often leads into a kind of punk-abandon-live, has left crowds breathless with dance. The combination of band leader Soren Staff’s lyricism and the tight arrangements worked out with the other band members—Jens Staff (mandolin), Beau Janke (banjo and piano), and Neil Krause (bass and kick drum)—give them a unique sound. With many songs diving into three and four-part harmonies and an equal mix of ballads and outright stompers, the band has begun to build a strong regional following. Most recently, they have toured the western U.S. with Charlie Parr and are poised for a breakout year in 2018.
